外球面轴承是由内嵌的球面轴承和轴承座组成的。内嵌的球面轴承除了球面型的外圈和超长的内圈外，其他的设计结构与深沟球轴承很相似。这样的设计可以使球面轴承很容易安装到轴承座里面，从而起到调心的作用。轴承座主要有铸铁和冲压两种。

Pillow blocks consist of the insert ball bearing and housing. Insert ball bearings are designed in almost the same way as deep groove ball bearings, except the outer ring is spherical and with wide inner rings. Their design allows the bearings to be easily mounted in a housing and self-aligning. The housing is mainly casting or pressed steel.
